History of Lake Ontario's Land-locked Salmon: Its' Extirpation & Recovery 11:00 am.

In 1801 the first White Settlers saw a river filled with landlock Atlantic Salmon each summer. These fish averaged for 15-45 pounds and became a significant component of local diets and the local economy. It took our ancestors just 78 years to extripate this fish from Salmon River and 20 more years to eliminate them from Lake Ontario. For the last 25 years NY State and the Province of Ontario have started a Reintroduction Program! Where is this program at and what is the future of these incredible native fish?
